I tend to be fully booked. So, if you have a slot in my weekly schedule, then you need to plan to attend that same day and timeevery week. Please, do not expect to “enter” my schedule by making an appointment on a specific day and time (e.g.: Saturday at 10:30am) and then being able to switch to a different day and time (e.g.: Wednesday at 6:00pm). Is extremely unlikely that I can switch you from the first slot to the second.
I expect you to come regularly, at least once a week, same day of the week, same time, same place, for us to talk. During tougher times, we may meet more than once a week.
I have an Attendance Policy that we will review in person, and you will be required to sign. It includes a cancellation fee for missing sessions, and it limits the number of sessions-in-a-row that you can miss before your case is closed at my practice. It also limits the number of sessions you can miss in a year period.
The length of treatment is difficult to predict. But what I offer is certainly not a quick fix. Therapy is a process, and it takes time.
Once you start your self-exploration journey, latent unresolved conflicts might trigger some resistances to continue the process and sabotage its successful completion. The same defensive efforts that kept those conflicts frozen are expected to manifest at some point in treatment. In those moments, your pursuance, for not giving up the effort you have already invested, is instrumental to obtain the beneficial results you are seeking. That is why it is important to end therapy only after having reached the treatment goals.
Nevertheless, I do not prolong treatments more than necessary.
